MyGlam bags and May Birchbox

So I just realized that I have not been updating my Glam bag posts! The last one I posted was in February... shame on me! So I'm going to catch up in one post. Here's a quick and dirty run-down of the past 3 Glam Bags

March Glam Bag
March's theme was "Repair and Restore". We received a DermStore care package with sample of Murad's Eye Lift Perfector, PurLisse's Essential Moisturizer, and a $25 coupon for DermStore. We also received a sample of Keracolor Color Enhancing Leave-in, and a MyGlam brush case and crease brush. Also each bag contained either 3Lab Perfect cleansing foam, PurLisse pure lip comfort, or Murad's absolute bronzing boost. My bag contained the full size PureLisse pure lip comfort which is really nice.
There were some complaints that the bag and the brush case smelled chemically, and they did. However, a few days of airing out and they were fine. The quality of the crease brush is also very good. From what I can tell it is made of natural hairs, which is awesome.
Overall, not the greatest Glam bag but still pretty good!

April Glam Bag
April's theme was "Girl's Night Out" and our bags were filled with items that we could use to create a very nice party look. I received Urban Decay's 24/7 glide on eye pencil in Junkie, which is a shimmery golden teal color. I loved it so much that I bought the rest of the "electric" collection from Urbandecay.com. This eyeliner is soft and really does glide on like butter! but after a few minutes, it dries and become smudge-proof, best of both worlds my friends :)
We also received DermStore's new Lip Quench which is a plumping lipgloss but without that stinging feeling all those other plumpers have. It is also really nice. Along with that each bag contained a pair of lashes from All-Belle and an eyeshadow and eyeliner brush.

May Glam Bag
Finally we have May's Glam bag with the theme "Love is in the Air!". This bag contained a sample of the new perfume by Philosophy "love sweet love" along with some glittery nail stickers, a Studio Gear lipstick, and the 2 last brushes for our MyGlam case: a concealer and a eyeliner definer brush. I'm not sure how an eyeliner definer brush is used though... it looks more like a lip brush to me...
Overall, not as good as April's but still pretty banging for $10!!

Lastly, I've also joined a few other beauty boxes subscription. I joined Beauty Army a couple of months ago because I liked the fact that you could pick out which samples you wanted. Unfortunately, the variety of what they had available was rather disappointing. There were a lot of moisturizers and small packets of eye cream, but nothing I really wanted to try. So after 2 boxes, I canceled my subscription.
Then last month I joined Birchbox since I had heard so many good things about them. This is what I received this month

Aparently Birchbox had teamed up with Gossip Girl to create this box and I couldn't be more thrilled. I looooove Gossip Girl! Since I don't have cable, or reliable local channels, I have to get my fix through Netflix which means waiting until the September for the whole season to be uploaded :(
Anyhow, back to the box! My box came with Algenist's complete eye renewal balm, Color Club in Disco Nap, Dr Jart's waterfuse BB cream, and Ojon volumizing shampoo. Oh and a little note-card :)
Not too bad right? I'm not too thrilled about another eye cream but I will probably just give all of the eye cream samples I have acquired to my mom.

So that is that. Sorry about the massiveness of this entry. It's hard to fit 3 month's worth of stuff into 1 entry but that is my fault for being a slacker right?

What do you think of beauty box subscriptions? Should I keep posting about the ones I received or do you hear about them enough in other places? let me know :)

Until next time ^_^

February Glam Bag

I finally received my Glam Bag yesterday!
It's a little later than what I had anticipated but much sooner than last month so I am happy :)

This month's bag is full of great goodies!

And it all came in this super cute valentine's themed bag!

First, there is this $100 gift card  that can be used on any styling tool or hair extension purchase at NuMe. I took a look on their website to see if anything was worth buying and I have to admit they have some nice goodies. They are also having a pretty good sale which means that you could get a $175 straightener for only $25 (whit the GC). Or a mini straightener for only $15!
This GC also applies for hair extensions which retail for $179. That's not really my thing though...

Next we have NYX's Roll On Shimmer. The one I received is RES06 Olive. It's a pretty olive shade with gold and green shimmer. It can be used as an eye shadow, face, or even body shimmer! Unfortunately, I don't really wear bright colored eye shadow, and this shade probably isn't the greatest for a face or body shimmer so this one will probably go up for swap.

This is an oil-free moisturizer with shine control by X Out (from the makers of Proactive). Great for people with really oily skin!

These are a couple of sample from Premier Dead Sea. The is a small packet of the Cinderella mask and a packet of the eye cream. These products (full size) are really expensive! Both of these products, full sized, are $150 each. They did give us a 50% off coupon but that is still wayyy out of my price range. I'll be happy to simply try out these little samples and leave it at that :)
In case you were hoping to purchase something from Premier Dead Sea, the coupon code is MYGLAM
It doesn't say if the code only works for the Cinderella mask or everything so give it a try!

Another Freeman mask. This time I received the Goji Berry Hydration mask. I love masks! Sheet mask, peel off masks, mud masks... you name it! I have a drawer full of them :) this one is a welcomed addition

Lastly, the chocolate. Excuse me, the Ghiradelli chocolate. This is no cheap waxy stuff. This is amazing stuff!  I love a good piece a chocolate, and Ghiradelli tends to hit the spot!

Overall, this Glam Bag, in my opinion, was much better than last months :) I do hope to see more makeup products in the future but for now I will relax in the tub with a mask on my face while eating some tasty, tasty chocolate

Until next time ^_^

January Glam Bag

Hi everyone!
I just received my Glam bag a couple of days ago. They were having some issues with shipping so it came in kind of late. At least it is here!

The theme of this month's bag is "Back to Nature" so the Glam bag is filled with all natural products :)
To be honest, I wasn't as excited for this month's items. Not that they aren't great items, they're just not for me. I'll explain...

The item I was most excited about was the item by The Balm. Each bag either received an eyeshadow or a random bottle of polish. I was very lucky and not only ended up with a bottle of nail polish (as I had really hoped for) but I got one of the best colors available: Youre so Hot and Gold

This is an awesome polish. It is made of gold and small holographic glitter. I swatched it on a nail wheel and it packs some serious shine. I can't wait to show you guys!

Next we have a duo concealer by sheer cover. This is a pretty coveted item in the beauty world. I've heard lots of great reviews about this brand but have yet to try it myself. However, I have already found my go to concealer (boi-ing by Benefit), so I wasn't super thrilled about this.

Then we have a cleansing conditioner by Wen. This sounded really great! It's not a shampoo! and it's not a 2-in-1, though it kind of is. Sadly, however, I received the sweet almond mint scent, and since mint gives me a headache, I will have to pass on this. I would, however, love to try this product in some of the other scents!
Lastly we have a full size bottle of Freeman's facial peel-off mask in cucumber. How great of a deal is this! it's so big it couldn't even fit in the Glam bag!
so here it is! the January Glam bag.
Though this month wasn't as great as December's, I'm expecting great things from February's! plus I got a totally awesome polish. I am totally in love with the idea of the glam bag and I am so glad I subscribed :)

Have you tried our My Glam yet?

Until next time ^_^

My glam bag

*This is a non polish related entry*
Many of you have probably heard of Michelle Phan. She is actually one of the reasons I started playing with makeup and then nail polish...
Well last month she unveiled a new company that she opened with some other beauty bloggers/vloggers and it's called MyGlam. It's a lot like birch box and all those other beauty subscription companies but with a little twist.
After you receive your package from MyGlam you can log on to the website where each of the stylists will show you how to create a look using the products they send you!

I just received my December Glam bag yesterday and I am thrilled. There are 3 full sized products and 2 large samples of some high quality brands.

  • Tarte- Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara
  • Mai Couture- Salicylic acid blotting papers (and a sample of blush papers)
  • Urban Decay- eyeshadow in Sin
  • Urban Decay- Primer Potion
  • NYX- matte lip cream in Milan (different colors were sent out depending on how you answered the quesitonaire)
and it all comes in a cute zip pouch with an attached mirror. Unfortunately after a few months of this I might have a few too many pouches....
So as you can see, MyGlam has some really nice products. I can't wait to see next month's bag :D

If you live in the US, you can get your own glam bag at myglam.com. They are currently sold of for January but be sure to check back in order to sign up for February's!

Until next time ^_^
