Barbie Princess Nails

Hi gang!
today I have a mani that is a little bit out of my comfort zone. I like cute girly stuff but I usually try to keep it simple. Not today!

I call these my Barbie Princess nails :)
I didn't want to go too much over the top so I "toned it down" by making the rest a glittery french tip.

Gosh in Wild Lilac
SinfulColors in Pink Forever
Essence in Space Queen
Pearly hearts from the Born Pretty Store
1mm Rhinestones from Ebay

Here is a picture of the little kit from the Born Pretty Store that the pearly hearts came in. As you can see, it also has a little bow decal and some larger round pearls.

These ended up being a little bigger than I anticipated. I knew the shapes would stick off a bit but I wasn't expecting the little heart and round pearls to be quite so large. I ended up having to add some extra topcoat under my white heart to give it a more stable base. Maybe it's because I have very curved nails. Perhaps someone with a flatter nail would not have any issues with this.
Regardless, I was pleasantly surprised at how well they stayed on! I used Seche Vite to stick them on and they lasted through 2 bedtimes and a shower before one finally snapped off (after running my hands through my hair...) I didn't think they would make it more than 12 hours so that was pretty nice!

If you want to get yourself one of these little kits, you can find them at the Born Pretty Store for under $5 with free shipping! Just click the picture to be taken directly to the product page.
As always, you can use my coupon code to get 10% off your order :)

Have you ever received an online order, only to be surprised by what the item *actually* looks like?

Until next time ^_^

Valentine's Mani

Week 7- Valentine's Mani
So I'm a little late on this one. Sorry :(

I had this great idea for a heart shaped water-marble but when I tried to do it on Sunday it was a complete flop. Let's just say that I am not that adept at water-marbling...

So last night, I tried something else...

I started with a silver foil base on my thumb and ring finger. I painted the rest China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic

Then I drew on a simple looking heart with the brush that is in the bottle. China Glaze has a smaller brush so that made it easier :)

Then using the biggest dotting tool I had (big dotter below), I drew a slightly smaller heart in the silver foil.
Medium dotter, Big dotter

The medium dotter for the purple...

And the small dotter for the lighter pink!

I used the new Electropop colors from China Glaze for this look:

The I added a rhinestone to the rest of my nails to tie everything in with some shiny and tadah!

Even though this isn't what I had intended, I still like it. It's very pink, which is unusual for me. I have very few pink polishes, which is why I ended up buying the Electropop pinks :) I needed something for my valentine's mani right? Most of my polishes are purple, my favorite color!

Don't forget to check out my Year of Polish page to see some more bloggers' take on these challenges!

Until next time ^_^

Smudgy Gradation

In the past I have mostly done gradients that used colors of the same family  because its a lot easier... So I decided to try it with 2 completely different colors, purple and green. Blending was a little hard so I decided to smudge the line with some Out The Door which worked great! I just glopped a ball of Out The Door on the middle of the nail and used the brush to blend the 2 colors together.

Etude House in Beach Green
Etude House in Plum Chou
Etude House in Heart topcoat

Topped the whole shebang with some glittery topcoat (with hearts) and tadah!

Until next time ^_^

For Audrey

I finally purchased For Audrey! and yes, it is amazing. I got mine from 8ty8beauty for less than $3. I have been crushing on this color for quite a while now but couldn't seem to find it in store anywhere. So I resorted to the internet. While there I also picked up a few more polishes (because they are so cheap!!) as well as a couple nail art brushes. The brushes aren't the best, but they will do... This is what I did with my new colors
Broke my middle fingernail hence the gimpness...
China Glaze in For Audrey
Color Club in Pucci-liscious
Stripe rite in White
Art Deco in Silver Glitter
Rhinestones from Bundle Monster and Sally's BS
