Summer Neon Ruffian

This week's challenge was a ruffian manicure.
I kind of like this type of mani. It's easy to do and allows you to show off 2 polishes at once!
They can be a little plain though...

Since I have been in need of summer color, I decided to pair this challenge with some bright neon polishes. I'm getting to that point where wearing neon nail polish makes me feel like a kid :( So it seemed like the ruffian manicure was the best way to wear them without having them be too loud

Funky Fingers in 220 Volts
China Glaze in Yellow Polka Dot Bikini
Funky Fingers in Pop Artist
Funky Fingers in Ectoplasmic
China Glaze in Japanes Koi (NEON)
*all topped with Hard Candy Mattely in Love*
Wet n Wild in Black Creme
*topped with Seche Vite*

The best way to get a great looking ruffian is with french manicure guide. You just place them at the base of your nail instead of the tip!
Unfortunately I never have french guides, so these were freehanded.

Until next time ^_^

Ruffian Peacock

I have tried (and failed) many times to recreate a peacock feather on my nails. It seemed that the artisty-detailed approach did not suit me so I opted for a more basic and easy method: layered ruffian!

starting from the top/cuticle:
Zoya in Charla
Zoya in Edyta
Sally Hansen Color Quick in Gold Chrome
Sally Hansen Color Quick in Turquoise Chrome
Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black

I half love and half hate the Color Quick pens... Yes the colors are pretty and very opaque, but the brush is a mess and very difficult to work with even if all you are attempting to do is paint your whole nail....
I've mostly been using them for stamping these days. They work quite nicely for that and I dont have to deal with the brush!
So if you do a lot of konad, I recommend picking up some of these.

Until next time ^_^

Halloween Ruffian

This design was not intended to look halloweeny... It just turned out that way...
I really wanted to try my first Nubar polish that I received in a swap. The color, Caramelo,  looked like an orangey gold in the bottle. Well, turns out it looked more orange than gold out of the bottle. I really like it though, it's a beautiful color.
Here is my first attempt at the ruffian manicure, which has been showing up everywhere!

With Matte black on top :)

Orange!
Nubar in Caramelo
Sally Hansen in Black out
China Glaze Matte Magic

Easy peasy nails but I have been feeling lazy lately with the designs.
Also! I treated myself to some Cherry Culture goodies (as a reward for all the GRE studying I did :D) so whenever I get those, Ill let you guys know what I think of the stuff and site overall. In the mean time, it's time to change polish
